The Montauk Point Light was the first lighthouse in New York, and it is the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the United States.

Montauk is considered a beach resort, and it has become one of the busiest tourist locations in East Hampton. Many of the hotels are only open April through November, while a few serve fishermen and other customers year round.
Located at the tip of the South Fork peninsula, Montauk is home to the largest commercial and recreational fishing fleet in New York.
During the summer, head to the Clam Bar at Napeague, an outdoor restaurant located west of Montauk. It’s known for its fresh seafood dishes, including this delicious lobster roll.

Fishing is a favorite pastime in Montauk. Some local companies offer fishing vacations, including a fun, fishing trip on a chartered boat. You can also plan a fly fishing trip on your own, too.
Visit the whaling port of Sag Harbor, located in both in both East Hampton and Southampton. Go sailing on the Atlantic Ocean or stay close by and explore Sag Harbor’s nature preserves, rich fauna and a variety of endangered species, including the eastern tiger salamander.
Dune Resort’s Sun n’ Sound Hotel overlooks tranquil Block Island Sound, and it’s a quick walk to Montauk Harbor, sport fishing charters and local restaurants. Most rooms have a private deck for you to enjoy a spectacular view of the sunset and the calming waters nearby.
