Ice Hotels

Chill out in a luxury igloo at a cool ice hotel with sculptures, icy beds and cozy fur hides to keep you warm at night.

At Norway's Alta Igloo Hotel, you can sleep in style in an igloo under the northern lights.

Apart from its 80 beds, the Alta Igloo Hotel houses suites, an ice gallery, an ice bar, an ice chapel and several lounges.

The Hôtel de Glace in Quebec has framed paintings hanging on ice walls, ice furniture and a swanky ice bar.

Designers create a sketch of the icy Hôtel de Glace and build it in a matter of weeks every fall.

Each year, the Hôtel de Glace has something different -- a new bed, a new bar or fancy new common rooms.

The Aurora Ice Museum, located at Chena Hot Springs Resort, 60 miles from Fairbanks, is the only ice hotel in the US.

The Aurora Ice Museum's ice sculptures are larger than life, sitting on ice pedestals in the lodge's main room.

In the Aurora Ice Museum, everything is made of ice: the beds, the chairs, the counters, the glasses and more.

The original Icehotel has been built every year since 1980 in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, 125 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

The Icehotel's ice-block beds are covered with fur, hides and sleeping bags to keep guests toasty.
