We asked all 53 2012 Miss America contestants to share the must-see places in their home states.

<b>Miss Alabama Courtney Porter</b><br> "Alabama is what we call the 'State of Surprises.' We have the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, one of the best Medical Institutions in the nation at University of Alabama at Birmingham, and lakes galore. However, I would have to say that my favorite place in my home state of Alabama is the beautiful gulf coast. Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are 2 of the sandy white beaches Alabama has to offer. The food, fellowship, and memories waiting to be made at the gulf coast are truly invaluable."
