A less than a day old newborn Asian elephant calf lies in its enclosure at Chester Zoo in Chester, England. The zoo is part of a breeding program that focuses on sustaining the elephant population in Europe, and the calf is the second elephant to be born at the zoo in 12 weeks.

Brazilian graffiti artist, Eduardo Kobra, puts the finishing touches to his 184-foot creation at the financial center on Sao Paulo’s Avenida Paulista. His piece pays tribute to Oscar Niemeyer, one of the 20th century’s most influential modernist architects, who died in December 2012.
