Hillbilly Hot Dogs
West Virginia and Ohio locations
This hot dog emporium serves up weenies any way you like them: spicy, southwestern and even pizza-flavored. "They always have a friendly welcome for you and the food is great too!" said reader Stephen Cook. For road trippers in search of a dog, Hillbilly's has two locations in West Virginia and one in Ohio.
Buc-ees
Texas locations
This Texas chain of travel centers boasts an outdoor center for hunters, car washes and more, brought to you by their friendly beaver mascot. Reader Sheila Oandasan said she likes Buc-ees for its "individual stalls in their bathrooms, which are always clean. Then they have a cool store with lots of Texas memorabilia and lots of good food."
Casa de Fruta
Hollister, CA
Unlike most roadside fruit stands, Casa de Fruta features a playground, gift shop and restaurant. Reader Stacy Barawed loves its "rides for the little kids while the big kids shop for wine, sweets and the best local produce in the area!"

On a road trip to Glacier National Park? This Montana travel center is famous for its bar filled with silver dollars from around the country, but it also has 2 casinos, a motel, restaurant and more.
South of the Border
Dillon, SC
The 100 miles of delightfully tacky signs featuring Pedro, the mascot of this South Carolina rest stop, have kept bored drivers on I-95 entertained for more than 50 years. Once you arrive at South of the Border, be sure to check out Reptile Land and the 200-foot observation tower, shaped like a sombrero.
Tamarack
Beckley, WV
Located near the intersection of I-77 and I-64, this unusual West Virginia stop is a must for art lovers. "At the bottom of the hill, it's just a regular truck stop," said reader Loretta Wilson, "but at the top of the hill it's...a showcase of West Virginian artisans' crafts. They have a beautiful picnic area, a nice place to eat inside and a courtyard with tables in the center."
