Andrew Zimmern is a food writer, restaurant critic, TV personality, chef and teacher. As the cocreator, host and contributing producer of Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern and Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre World, Andrew travels the world tasting traditional dishes and experiencing local customs, for an authentic travel experience.
Zimmern has received high praise from "The New York Post," "The Washington Post," and many other national publications. He has appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly, NBC's Today show, the Food Network's Best Of and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
"The Bizarre Truth," Andrew's first book (Random House) debuts in the fall of 2009. Zimmern is an associate editor at "Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine" and Delta's "Sky Magazine."
Born and raised in New York City, Zimmern attended the Dalton School and graduated from Vassar College. He spent almost a decade in New York's finest restaurants as executive chef or general manager, lectured on restaurant management and design at The New School for Social Research and as a consultant created several legendary New York restaurants. Andrew left daily restaurant operations in 1997.
