The Story:
The General Jackson Showboat is a 300-foot-long vessel modeled after the great paddlewheel riverboats that cruised the Southern waterways in the 1800s. The General Jackson showboat is named after a ship of the same name and built in 1985. The Showboat is known today for its cruises and the entertainment it provides on-board including, country music, gospels and musicals.

*Although the ship is modeled after 19th Century steamboats, the General Jackson Showboat is actually powered by powerful diesel engines.

*The boat has a capacity of 1,200 passengers and 167 crew members.

*The boat is 274 feet long and over 77 feet tall.

*The General Jackson Showboat was originally a feature at the Opryland USA theme park, which closed in 1997.
