Prior to co-hosting the Travel Channel adventure series "Mark & Olly: Living With the Tribes," Oliver Steeds was a critically acclaimed international investigative reporter and video journalist. Traveling to the far reaches of the globe, often alone, to capture unique and timely stories, Olly learned to shoot and edit his own material. With an interest in breaking news stories and topics of special interest, he has reported for various news organizations including the BBC, Channel 4, Al Jazeera International, ABC and CNN from locations all over the world. Over the course of his career, he has been nominated for the Livingstone Award for Young Journalists, Emmys, Asian TV Awards and Overseas Press Awards.
Featured in the publication "Faces of Exploration: Encounters with 50 Extraordinary Pioneers," Olly was profiled alongside such luminaries as Buzz Aldrin, Ran Fiennes, Jane Goodall and Edmund Hillary, and named "a representative of the new generation: modern, media savvy, high-tech, digital adventurer."
Olly is also the founder of the non-profit iNOMAD, which works to communicate discovery through education and the media. He was recently elected as a Fellow to the prestigious Explorer's Club, a professional society dedicated to advancing field research and scientific exploration of land, sea, air and space.
Paired with comrade Mark Anstice, the third season of his Travel Channel adventure series takes him into the Peruvian Amazon to learn about the culture and traditions of the remote Machigenga tribe. Olly previously spent seasons one and two in West Papua, learning about the Kombai and Mek tribes.
Olly currently resides in England.
