Plan Your Next Big Celebration at Disney

By Kwin Mosby

The Royal Treatment is a personalized Disney experience. Guests are treated to a one-of-a-kind dream vacation, where they can travel to exotic lands, embark on heart-pounding adventures or relax in blissful solitude. Find out how Disney can help make your child's dream come true or fulfill your desires to have a fairy-tale wedding at Walt Disney World.

Princess for a Day

Little girls can live their dreams of being a princess for a day at Disney World. They are transformed into their favorite fairy-tale maidens and spend the day hanging out with storybook friends.

Young girls start at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where they¿re transformed into their favorite Disney diva, from the tiara to glass slippers. Children have the opportunity to become Disney leading ladies, including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel and Jasmine.

With princess bags in hand and crowns firmly on their heads, girls can quickly capture a moment with their fairy godmothers. Part of this full-service package deal includes a photo shoot at the boutique and the availability of Disney photographers that are on call all around the park as part of their PhotoPass Service.

After their photo shoot, parents can arrange for their young princess to have lunch with Cinderella herself at the Royal Table inside her castle. The Storybook Lunch in Epcot's Norway Pavilion offers an additional opportunity for children to eat a meal with several princesses. It's a flavorful feast served in the Norwegian Castle with a gathering of everyone's favorite princesses as its crowning glory.

The Princess and Pirate Party

This is an incredible after-hours experience that happens at the Magic Kingdom.  Little girls and boys get to come in at the train station, walk to the destination of their choice and decide whether to be a pirate or princess. Once they enter the Magic Kingdom, the night is theirs. Kids don't have to wait in long lines to ride Space Mountain, Dumbo or any other rides.

Pirates get a little treasure pouch, and they go in search of treasure and chocolate doubloons in the Magic Kingdom. Along the way, they run into pirate coves where Captain Jack Sparrow teaches the buccaneers how to sword fight.

Meanwhile, girls who want to be princesses attend a meet and greet where they are able to spend time with the royal princesses. It provides young ladies the opportunity to visit with the princesses one on one, creating some memorable, magical moments.

Other festivities kids can check out while at the Pirate and Princesses after-hours extravaganza include "Seabastian's Under the Sea Dance Party" and the "Enchanted Adventures Parade."  An orchestrated fireworks display lights up the Magic Kingdom sky, capping off the evening with an awe-inspiring finale.

Quinceañera Celebration

Disney can help plan a Quinceañera celebration, the coming-of-age party where a girl turns fifteen and becomes a young lady. It's a time when the entire family comes together to celebrate this child. Years of preparation can go into planning a grand Quinceañera, and it often solidifies the young woman's relationships with both family and friends.

Disney has packages for Quinceañera celebrations that are very elaborate -- almost like weddings. Professional hair and makeup artists are just two of the many services that can be arranged for a young lady to arrive at her ball feeling like a pampered princess.

Most young ladies have their own idea of what they¿d like their Quinceañera to entail, but no matter the scale, Disney is at your service. Walt Disney World has a team of people ready to create any dream. They have stylists, choreographers, set designers, and anything your child's heart desires for this special occasion.  A young lady's Court of Honor, usually comprised of her closest friends, are also involved in the planning process.

The Quinceañera celebration is all about tradition. The tiara and the scepter are symbols that represent the young lady's readiness for the responsibilities she'll face in adulthood. The passing of the "Last Doll" to a younger family member or friend signifies leaving behind the trappings of childhood. The young lady -- usually with help from her father -- marks the occasion by removing her sandals to have high heels placed on her feet.

After this, the father and daughter dance and then the next dance belongs to the young princesses and the young gentlemen in her Court of Honor. This dance represents a young lady's entrance into society.

The Disney event planner can help plan the menu for the special event to appeal to adults and teen guests. Two pastry chefs can spend 24 hours constructing from scratch an Aladdin-inspired confection, alternating layers of marble cake with chocolate mousse and yellow cake with butter-cream filling.

Fairy-Tale Wedding

Thinking about having a Cinderella-inspired fairy-tale wedding?  Disney's Fairy-Tale Weddings has hosted over 30,000 weddings since they opened in 1991. On average they help organize and perform 1,500 weddings a year for people from all around the world.

Franck Studios is home to the dedicated wedding consultants at the heart of Fairy-Tale Weddings in Walt Disney World. Couples get to choose their cakes, flowers and all the other details for their wedding day. Some couples have relied on phone and email as forms of communication with Franck Studios to make a decision on selecting the location, date and the budget guidelines for the wedding. A team of experts holds the couple's hands throughout the entire process to make sure that their wedding day is absolutely perfect.

A Mad Hatter Bridal Tea Party offers brides-to-be a unique affair for friends and family. Like all Disney events, a diverse selection of menu options is available for you to customize a Mad Hatter Party to meet your budget. Disney¿s impeccable service gives you the opportunity to choose a full champagne brunch or a more affordable dessert tea. Characters are a popular and whimsical way to customize an event, as well.  Photo opportunities with your fairy-tale favorites provide guests with a wonderful souvenir that will make the experience memorable for years to come.

On the day of the wedding, the couple can prepare for the big moment at the Grand Floridian Hotel with a team of hairstylists and makeup artists. Meanwhile, Disney¿s Wedding Team effortlessly coordinates the day's events behind the scenes to make certain everything moves along on schedule. They even provide the bride with regal transportation -- a coach pulled by six Welsh ponies, guided by a coachman and appointed with two footmen in stately regalia.

There is no shortage of locations within Disney¿s Parks and Resorts to fit a couple¿s ideal wedding theme or destination. Some ideal spots include a beautiful gazebo at Disney's Yacht Club Resort; an outdoor, open-air pavilion at Disney's Boardwalk Resorts; a replica of the Eiffel Tower in the France pavilion at the World Showcase; or on the Tower of Terror at Disney¿s Hollywood Studios.

Disney can also plan a Fairy-Tale Reception at the Grand Floridian with a Cinderella castle cake and a cannon blast with confetti coming down on all of the guests during the last dance. Disney can personalize every detail to meet a couple's needs. They offer an Escape Wedding Collection for just a handful of guests that starts at $4,000; an elaborate wedding, which may start at $10,000; or a celebrity designer couture wedding by David Tutera that starts around $75,000. David Tutera can design anything from the table settings to huge floral arrangements to unique cakes.

As part of the planning process, the Disney Weddings team tries to understand the bride and groom's personality -- what they're looking for and what the perfect setting for their wedding event would be. The team can also set the happy newlyweds up in the Cinderella Castle Suite. It's the ultimate royal retreat with a suite bedchamber, bathroom, salon and a portrait of Cinderella that immediately turns into a DVD player for the night or a TV for guests to enjoy.

Disney Fairy-Tale Weddings has something to offer everyone, whether it's the most intimate affair with just a handful of guests or a grand affair for hundreds of people.
