Bar Harbor, Maine

The fall foliage in Maine is among the best in the US, so why not do your leaf peeping in its premier wonderland, Acadia National Park? The first national park east of the Mississippi, Acadia offers scenic drives along its craggy Atlantic coastline, past 14 shimmering lakes and ponds, with bursts of red, orange and yellow regaling drivers from Acadia’s 50-year-old woodlands. If you miss peak foliage, certainly don’t miss the Atlantic coast’s highest peak, Cadillac Mountain.
