Located near the border of France and Switzerland, in the foothills of the Black Forest, sits the famed German spa town of Baden-Baden. While its name literally translates as “Bathing-Bathing,” the town is popular with tourists for all kinds of reasons. In addition to enjoying the area’s thermal baths, outdoor enthusiasts can take to the town’s golf courses by summer and ski slopes by winter. Visitors shouldn’t miss picking up one of the town’s most famous exports: the cuckoo clock. Baden-Baden is also a great place to sample the aptly named Black Forest ham and Black Forest cake.
