 The nickname “Grand Old Ditch” couldn’t be a more fitting name for Georgetown's C&O Canal. Built to transport coal from the Allegheny Mountains to DC (but beaten to completion by the railroad), this 184-mile path is now a popular way to experience the beauty of the mid-Atlantic.
