Erg Chebbi, Morocco
Called “As-Sahara al-Kubra” in Arabic, “The Great Desert” of the Sahara stretches more than 3.6 million square miles through North Africa. Over this ocean of sand, Berber tribesmen in cobalt roads slowly lead their camel caravans and take visitors to famous dunes like Erg Chebbi, where the sand crests reach heights of 500 feet. Nearby, visitors will find luxe tents, replete with wooden floors and remarkably soft camel hair blankets. Dine on skewered meats and tagine, with the desert stars as your dinner companion.
