Yosemite, California

Upper Cathedral Lake reflects the majestic lines of Cathedral Peak, its backcountry companion here in Yosemite National Park in Northern California. This summer sunset paints the glacial lake and mountain in glowing pinks and purples; as the famed American naturalist John Muir wrote about Cathedral Mountain and its surroundings almost 150 years ago, “…there is a handsome lake, and the glacier-polished granite about it is shining so brightly it is not easy in some places to trace the line between the rock and water, both shining alike.”
