Don’t hurry across this iconic bridge in Central Park. It’s one of the oldest cast-iron bridges in America that, surprisingly, was designed by a Brit named Calvert Vaux in the mid-1800s. The bridge traverses a bridle path, and respect should be paid to its design: Its 38 feet are decorated with floral scrolls and spiraling leaves that make this the perfect setting in autumn for a romantic walk or contemplative pause.
