23-mile-long Chain of Craters Road is one of Hawaii's most spectacular drives. Open from 10 in the morning until 9 at night, the road offers scenic views of rain forests and sea coasts as well as pit craters and steam from lava tubes, and ends where a lava flow has literally overtaken the road.
