It’s well worth the drive into the Basque Country’s medieval village of Elciego when the purpose is a visit to the stunning Frank Gehry-designed Hotel Marques De Riscal. Evoking the same modern architecture of the Guggenheim Bilbao and Museum of Life Building in Panama, the hotel was designed with a 21st century wine chateau in mind and today is the only hotel project completed by the architect. Stay in one of 42 rooms and suites, indulge at the Caudalie vinotherapy spa, or tour the oldest vineyard in the area, Marques de Riscal, where vintages date back to 1862.
