Troms, Norway

The Old Norse translation of Lyngen Fjord means “still or calm.” That pretty much describes what you’ll find if you ski the breathtaking Lyngen Alps in northern Norway. With an annual average snowfall of 16 feet, this is heaven for off piste skiers who cross the fjord by boat February through May and climb untracked snow to the summit for a heart-stopping downhill experience. Evenings, Norway throws in the northern lights at no extra charge.
