Mount Aspiring National Park
Otago, New Zealand
That these waters are named the Blue Pools seems like an understatement -- they are such a brilliant aqua they almost glow. And that they should be accessible via a short hike through Mount Aspiring National Park, nestled amid New Zealand’s Southern Alps, is appropriate -- who would not be filled with fresh aspirations after an invigorating dip in these chilly, glacier-fed pools? But the abundant trout don’t seem to mind the cold -- you can see them swimming serenely, 50 feet below, at the bottom of these crystal-clear waters.
