Maui, Hawaii

It’s said that slow and steady wins the race, but the real victor is he who comes face-to-face with a green sea turtle. The majestic, endangered species can be spotted within the Olowalu reef in Maui, likely on her way to a feeding ground or nesting site, often the very beach where she herself was born. Global and local conservationists’ efforts mean you’ll have to watch the miracle from afar, but after the eggs hatch you can help release the babies into the ocean.
