Oaxaca, Mexico

Looking for a laid-back Mexican hideaway? Escape to the growing yet relaxed fishing village of Puerto Escondido, or “Hidden Port,” on the southern Pacific coast of Oaxaca. Surfers flock to the big waves at nearby Zicatela Beach, but you can also stay in shape by walking the mile-long Andador Escénico, a winding pathway of stairs and bridges built 20 years ago along the town’s rocky cliffs. It ends at a scenic overlook, aptly named Sueño Posible -- the Possible Dream.
