Tucked in the northwestern Italian region of Liguria, Vernazza is one of 5 villages that compose the section of the Italian Riviera known as Cinque Terre. Despite its popularity with tourists, Vernazza has retained its typical Ligurian fishing village feel. Meander amid the town’s melange of fortified ancient walls, brightly colored houses, round medieval towers and its famous Roman-forged footpath, which links the vineyards, terraced gardens and ocean vistas of the 5 villages. Foodies, meanwhile, will want to try the region's famous pesto and seafood prepared myriad ways.
