Limpopo Province, South Africa

South Africa has over 600 parks and reserves, the largest of which is Kruger National Park. At 7,722 square miles, it’s roughly the size of New Jersey, and is home to the big 5 -- lions, African buffalo, elephants, leopards (pictured) and rhinoceros -- along with 142 other kinds of mammals (not to mention 114 reptile species and 507 types of birds). The park has accommodations ranging from rustic camping sites to the truly luxurious Singita Lebombo Private Game Lodge, where travelers close out the days with champagne sundowners.
