The highest mountain in Austria and one of the highest in the Alps at more than 12,000 feet, the Grossglockner has been spellbinding adventurous souls since it was first ascended in 1800. Now owned by the Austrian Alpine Association, it’s a popular destination for those who wish to simply take in the view as well. Visitors can drive the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and explore Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest nature reserve in the Alps.
