Whirlpool Aero Car

Niagara Falls, Ontario

Take flight over the Great Gorge, high above the astonishing Niagara River, in an antique cable car at Whirlpool Aero Car in Ontario. Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo designed the attraction, which opened in 1916 and has been delighting passengers — 35 at a time — ever since. The best way to witness the natural phenomenon of the Niagara Whirlpool (where the torrent of water abruptly changes directions), the open-air cable car provides a 3,000-foot round-trip ride and limitless photo opportunities. Just make sure no one in your party is afraid of heights.
