Held every autumn, the annual apple festival is similar to a US country fair. In the apple competition, the best apples win gold medals for color and feel. There's also an apple exhibition and the favorite activity -- the apple sculpture.

Le Mont Saint Michel

The Mont was built in 708 when the bishop dreamt that the archangel Saint Michael wanted him to build a church here. Monks still live and work here. Take the route alongside the main road to avoid crowds on your trip up to the medieval village.
