Photo Essay: Iceland By Camper Van

A new landscape seems to appear each day as photographer, blogger and van-dweller Alison Turner travels around RingRoad, or Route 1, which circles the country.

A Roadtrip of Waterfalls

I'€™m standing at the base of Skogafoss, a waterfall on the Skoga River in southern Iceland.

Incredible Views

Sometimes it feels as if there is a huge mural outside of the camper. This view was from the Snaefellsnes peninsula.

Keep the Windows Down

The locals are very friendly. A few Icelandic horses came up to my window to greet me.

Dress in Layers

The weather can change in an instant in Iceland, so it'€™s a good idea to be prepared. I woke up to blue skies that quickly turned into snow flurries.

Waking Up to This

A fresh coat of snow on the landscape in North Iceland makes for a beautiful morning view.

Natural Spas

Be sure to take a soak in one of the many hot springs you'€™ll find in the country.

Don't Miss the Churches

There's a church in just about every town you visit in Iceland. This one was perched up on a hill. The churches seem to have the best views.

Always Make Time to Wander

Any given day, you will most likely find me with my head in the clouds. Here I am taking a walk in northeast Iceland at the Namafjall geothermal field.

Front Seat at the Falls

This is the early morning view at Seljalandsfoss, one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland.

Practice Mindfulness

Take time, like I did, to soak up the view and listen to seals, birds and the sounds of glaciers moving along the lagoon at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, on the edge of Vatnajokull National Park.
