El Médano Beach

Tenerife, Canary Islands

The town of El Médano — whose name translates to "the sand dune" — is situated on the longest beach on Tenerife, the largest and most celebrated of the Canary Islands. Popular with sports enthusiasts, it is heralded for its world-class windsurfing and hosts many world championships on its pristine shores. In town, narrow streets welcome guests with a bevy of cafés and quaint beer gardens, as the nearby volcanoes Montaña Roja and Montaña Pelada act as a gorgeous backdrop.
