Dalt Vila

Ibiza, Spain

Narrow, cobbled, undulating lanes, some with tunnels, and myriad, uneven, ancient staircases lead toward the cathedral that crowns the hill in Dalt Vila, the Mediterranean island of Ibiza's evocative medieval old town. The harbor below, filled with ferries, fishing boats and yachts, pulsates with energy. Though Ibiza is best known for its frolicsome nightlife, Dalt Vila and its tranquil harbor pose a meditative alternative to  the party scene. Sit in one of the cafes that crowd the harbor area for some of the best people watching in Europe.
