Duart Castle

Isle of Mull, Scotland

Known as Caisteal Dhubhairt in Scottish Gaelic, Duart Castle is located off the west coast of Scotland on the Isle of Mull. Dating back to the 13th century, it is the ancestral home of Clan Maclean and was seen as the base of their sea-borne power. Nowadays, the ruins of the castle are undergoing restoration to bring it back to its former glory, but visitors may tour the staterooms and dungeon, as well as walk along the seaside grounds marked with many memorials to loved ones lost at sea.
