Lake Clark National Park

Nondalton, Alaska

Accessible only by small aircraft, a 2-hour flight from Anchorage, Lake Clark National Park is known for its steaming volcanoes, cobalt lakes and rugged mountains. A journey here brings you to nature’s untamed wilderness, where Alaskan brown bears roam and salmon run. Kayak, hike and raft the scenic rivers before paying homage to the early naturalist Dick Proenneke by visiting the log cabin where he lived alone for 30 years. If comfort is more your style don’t worry; there are plenty of quaint bed and breakfasts and cozy lodges throughout the park.
