California, admittedly, has an unfair advantage in the “famous coastal scenery” category. But how many of us have ever heard of Patrick’s Point State Park, along northern California’s relatively unpopulated coast? The state park’s thick forests and meadows are bordered by an often foggy coastline, home to dramatic cliffs, brooding beaches, tide pools and waters where passing gray whales and playful sea lions ply their trade.
