What better place to feel like a god or goddess while on vacation than in the Garden of the Gods? A National Natural Landmark since 1971, this public park has 15 miles of easy-to-moderate hiking trails, and is popular for technical rock climbing, road and mountain biking, and horseback riding. Two surveyors first came across this distinctive area of sandstone formations in 1859. One declared it a great place for a beer garden. The other rallied for its more hallowed recognition.
