Sailboat Races

Annapolis, Maryland

In 1958, former Annapolis Yacht Club Commodore Gaither Scott discovered the Wednesday night races at East Greenwich Yacht Club in Rhode Island. In 1959, he began a new tradition of midweek races in Annapolis, and today, more than 125 yachts compete weekly. Members flock to the clubhouse to watch the races, while tourists and locals head to the Spa Creek drawbridge and Annapolis Harbor to experience this grand tradition.
