When you think about Washington, DC, the first few things that come to mind are, more than likely, the president, the government, the monuments … you get the point. It's because of those things, and because DC is such a transient city, that it makes for such an interesting melting pot of sports fans from all over the country. So whether you're looking to attend a game or just to watch with your friends, there's a place for every sports fanatic in DC.

If you're traveling to DC, High Velocity sports bar offers double the bang for your buck. Not only can you enjoy more than 40 beers on tap, high-end bar food and comfort seating while taking in the big game, you can walk right back into the lobby and head up to your room. Located inside the new Marriott Marquis, the city’s largest hotel, High Velocity has more than 50 flat-screen HDTVs, perfect for tracking all of your favorite fantasy-football players or watching your home team while you’re away.

Located in Penn Quarter, right across the street from the Verizon Center, home of the NBA's Washington Wizards and the NHL's Washington Capitals, Redline Gastrolounge offers an expansive upstairs sports-watching mecca. Is it the 40-plus flat screens? Maybe the 11-foot projection screen? Is it the unique, built-in table taps — similar to the ones at Stats in Atlanta — where you can indulge in your favorite beer right at your table? The correct answer is D, all the above. From watching your favorite NFL team on DirecTV's Sunday Ticket and staying on top of college sports with ESPN Gameplan to watching your favorite player hit a home run on MLB Extra Innings, Redline offers the ultimate sports-watching experience in DC.

The great thing about the DMV (District, Maryland and Virginia) is that you can access almost every sporting venue available by hopping on the metro. Just get on one of the 6 different lines, and in all likelihood, you'll end up at some stadium or arena. If you're looking to catch John Wall and the Washington Wizards or one of DC's other superstars, Alex Ovechkin, and the Capitals, the Chinatown metro station, located on the red, green and yellow lines, will drop you off right outside their home venue, the Verizon Center.

If baseball's your game, make your way to the green line (accessible at the Chinatown metro station), and a short ride to the Navy Yard-Ballpark station will put you within walking distance of the Nats' stadium, one of baseball's newest venues and home of the Washington Nationals. Even FedEx Field, home of Washington's professional football team, is accessible via the metro now. Travel along the blue line or the all-new silver line to the Largo Town Center station, and in just under a mile (seriously, 0.9 miles), all the tailgating and football fun you could ever want awaits.
