Harley-Davidson is not merely the longest operating motorcycle manufacturer in the United States, it has spawned a lifestyle that is world renowned. "H-D cool" can be had in products as diverse as the original leather motorcycle jacket to infant layettes emblazoned with the "Bar & Sheild" logo. Founded in 1903, the company commemorated its 100th anniversary in 2003 with a celebration that included the Open Road Tour, a traveling extravaganza with demos, concerts and fairs and the Ride Home, an organized ride to Milwaukee in August, where the company organized a massive birthday party.
