Approximately 36,000 artifacts make up the Metropolitan Museum's Egyptian collection, which many scholars rank as among the finest collections outside of Cairo. Many of the objects, which are arranged chronologically in 32 galleries, come from the Met's own archaeological expeditions and reflect all aspects of ancient Egypt, from daily life to religious beliefs to funeral rites.
