-----------------------------------------
Located deep in the heart of Turin, Italy, is one of the largest collections of Egyptian artifacts outside of Egypt. This massive collection was started by local Bernardino Drovetti, who was stationed in Egypt during the Napoleonic Wars in the late 18th century. Since then the collection has grown to include 30,000 artifacts for display. The most notable pieces in the Museo Egizo are the black granite statue of Ramses II (13th century B.C.); the Tomb of Kha and Merit, complete with all necessary items for the afterlife (14th century B.C.); and Papiro de Rei (Royal Paprus) which details all of the pharaohs up to the 17th dynasty. Another noteworthy site to see is the reconstruction of the Rock Temple of Ellessiya (15th century B.C.).
