A relatively young event, the Myrtle Beach Open is shaping up to be one of the premier sand sculpting events. The second competition featured 18 professionals from around the world competing for $12,000 in prizes. There's also an amateur competition on the last day of the Open. Novices bitten by the sand-sculpting bug after the competition can improve their skills with a Hands-On Sculpture Program offered to the public throughout the summer.
