7. Surin Islands
Location: Off the coast of Burma
What's Cool: Swim with whale sharks and shovel-nosed rays
-----------------------------------------
For those looking to backstroke with the enormous and gentle whale shark, this is the place to go. Richelieu Rock, which lies eight miles east of the Surin Islands, is the main attraction in these waters. Divers often encounter the rarely seen shovel-nosed ray - the half-shark, half-ray that calls these waters home. The waters are peaceful and the marine life abundant, ranging from large orca whales to cuttlefish and moray eels.
