The archipelago that is the Maldives contains diverse marine life and stunning underwater scenery, complete with multi-colored reefs, dramatic drops and large schools of fish. The Shark Thila reef is home to 16 reef sharks that make this a well-known dive site in the Indian Ocean. Divers in the Maldives may also encounter hammerheads and whale sharks. High visibility makes these underwater sites picture perfect, so plan to bring along an underwater camera.
