After extensive renovation, the Oriental Museum's Egyptian Gallery re-opened to the public in 1999 and now contains more than 800 artifacts that date back to Egypt's Predynastic Period. A 17-foot statue of King Tut guards the entrance to the gallery which has walls lined with such objects as reliefs, complete pieces of pottery, and a fragment of a tomb bearing an inscription of warning to tomb robbers.
