Belfry Inne and Bistro

The Belfry Inn and Bistro in Sandwich, MA, is a Cape resort like no other, providing a nearly religious experience for its guests. This small campus is composed of 3 buildings: The Abbey, a former Catholic church; the Village House, a fully-restored 1882 Federal-style home; and the Painted Lady, an 1872 Victorian structure adorned with pink shingles and once used as the church rectory. The Abbey, a majestic brick structure, is a soaring space with rooms named for the days of the week. The most dramatic -- the Tuesday Room -- features an oversized, circular stained glass window at the head of the king-size 4-poster pineapple bed. The Bistro, a striking space with stained glass windows, white linen, a grandiose fireplace and an intimate atmosphere, offers creative contemporary American cuisine. The menu features local fare -- seafood plucked from day boats just in from the cold Atlantic -- and changes with the seasons. The Belfry Inn and Bistro is an hour's drive from Boston, just over the Sagamore Bridge.

The Race Point Lighthouse

The Race Point Lighthouse in Provincetown, MA, transports guests back to classic Cape Cod. This rustic, somewhat isolated accommodation offers guests 2 options: the Keeper's House or the Whistle House. The Keeper's House has been restored to its original 1950s decor, and features a full kitchen, living room and covered porch -- perfect for whiling away a Cape Cod summer. The Keeper's House has 3 second-floor bedrooms. The Keeper stays in the bedroom on the first floor. The Whistle House offers a little more privacy, with vaulted ceilings, 2 bedrooms and a full bath. Guests staying at the Whistle House will need their own 4-wheel-drive vehicle to get to this brick-exterior structure situated just yards from the Atlantic Ocean. Catch the sunset from the top of the nearby lighthouse, try your hand at surfcasting or just keep an eye out for whales, seals or dolphins just offshore. Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod, is a 2-hour drive from Boston.
