When the Preston Castle opened in 1894, it was heralded as an impressive example of Romanesque Revival architecture. Until 1960, the building housed both juvenile offenders and abandoned children. Now, the deserted castle is home to multiple tormented spirits – some believed to be attacking the living. It’s also rumored that the building is haunted by the spirit of a woman named Anna Corbin, once the castle’s housekeeper, who was beaten to death in the basement. The circumstances surrounding her murder, however, remain an unsolved mystery. The building is now open to public tours – visit and see if you encounter Anna herself – maybe she’ll give you a clue as to who brutally murdered her.
