Chris Porterfield of Field Report used to be the pedal steel player in DeYarmond Edison (Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Megafaun's old band). After they broke up, Chris hung back in Wisconsin, figured his musical career was over, but then for the first time in his life he began writing his own songs, which he went on to spend the next 5 years carefully perfecting. Field Report’s song I Am Not Waiting Anymore was featured in this week’s Esquire as one of the “Songs a Man Should be Listening to This Week.”
I went to Raleigh to: Perform at Hopscotch and the Longview Center.
I traveled here with: My band Field Report -- Nick Berg, Travis Witty, Damian Striges, Jeff Mitchell and Ben Lester.
The best way to travel here is: 2006 Dodge Ram Conversion Van!
I stayed at: Marriott Downtown. It was really comfortable and the pool is not on the first floor so you can see the city while swimming!
When it comes to packing, be sure to bring: Walking shoes! Very necessary when attending a music festival!
The best thing I ate was: Quarter chicken at Beasley’s Chicken and Honey!! Amazing food and good prices.
I wish I hadn't: Bought cabernet to-go from Taz’s.
Next time I will definitely: Tour the Videri Chocolate Factory.
My advice would be: Don’t miss getting a 3-day pass for Hopscotch 2013!
Hopscotch Festival is different from other music festivals because: The organization and the proximity of each venue encourages you to see as much as you can and get the best experience!
