Bikini Debut Makes History
The original bikini made a splash at the Piscine Molitor swimming pool in Paris in 1946. The bikini’s designer, Louis Reard, a French automobile engineer, forever changed swimsuit history that summer day by revealing the first bikini, made from 30 inches of newsprint fabric.
