Expedition Unknown chronicles the adventures of Josh Gates as he investigates iconic mysteries across the globe. Gates begins by interviewing key eyewitnesses and uncovering recent developments in the story, then springboards into a fully immersive exploration.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is more than 2,500 years old and is the hub of Yangon. Considered to be the holiest shrine in Myanmar, it welcomes thousands of pilgrims each year. This is where Josh meets with businessman Chit San Win to discuss his involvement with the Dhammazedi bell.

Mount Popa
Mount Popa is known as the home of the “nats,” Myanmar’s own spirits, which are worshipped in conjunction with Buddhism. After walking up 777 steps to the monastery on the mountain, Josh is greeted by Mr. Swe, a knowledgeable local. He teaches Josh about the history of Mount Popa and the religious traditions.
