History: Andy Trice and his wife Aileen opened Angel's BBQ more than 6 years ago. Andy had been in the fine dining industry for 14 years and wanted to do something more real. They found a location that was affordable and the rest is history. It was called Angel's since that is Andy's nickname for Aileen.
Menu: Angel's BBQ serves sandwiches and platters with pulled pork, brisket or chicken. The sides range from mac and cheese to coleslaw. Get the full menu.
Signature Dishes: The best selling dishes include the Angel's Special (pulled pork sandwich with mustard coleslaw on top), their BBQ sauces and Peanuts & Greens (collard greens with peanuts).
Price: You can get a pulled pork sandwich and side for $8.00.
How Angel's Is Celebrating Its MvFN Appearance: Andy and Aileen are heading to Tuby's Tank House for the viewing party. All of the owners of the restaurants featured in the episode are getting together to watch.
All About the Challenge
Name: Voodoo Juice Challenge
History: About 2 years ago local chili heads were growing ghost peppers and needed some use for the spicy peppers. At the same time students from the local art and design school were looking for a challenge to tackle. Andy satisfied both needs by creating the Voodoo Juice Challenge. He initially offered it to larger restaurants but no one wanted it.
Ingredients: The Voodo Juice Challenge is 1-lb. pulled pork sandwich dressed in 4 oz of the Voodoo Juice. The Voodoo Juice is made from Savannah Bee Company Sour Wood Honey, chopped garlic, sea salt, red wine vinegar and ghost, habanero, arbol and chiltepin peppers.
Attempts & Successes: Since the challenge began about 250 people have attempted it and 48 have been successful. We will find out if the Williams twins will be added to that list.
Winners Receive: If you are successful, you get a T-shirt, your pictures on the wall, and as Andy likes to call it, a night of misery.
Other Food Challenges: There are no other food challenges in the works, however Andy is working on a BBQ sauce cookbook. His Skull Pop sauce has won contests and is available for purchase. Look for all these products on the web site.
