Guinea pigs, piranhas, coconut grubs -- it's all in a day's work for Andrew Zimmern, as he takes a bite out of the South American country of Ecuador.Go to Episode
Motes de la Magdalena
Andrew rides a tram up to the mountains above Quito and dines at Motes de la Magdalena. He enjoys cuero de librillo (soup made from the outside of a cow's stomach), guatita (cow-stomach stew) and menudo (tripe and beef heart soup).
Similar to an American farmers market, this town's Saturday market offers a wide variety of delicacies. Andrew samples roast pork with motes and cracklings (pig skin), cheese empanadas and an aloe vera vitamin drink.
