Sam DeMarco
Acclaimed Chef
Chef Sam DeMarco (aka Sammy D) is a Brooklyn boy who has been on the restaurant scene for more than 30 years making a name for himself as a leader in modern and casual American cuisine. Sammy became well-known as the “Chef to the Chefs” in the late 90s at his inaugural restaurant venture -- First -- an East Village late-night hideaway where the culinary elite often kicked back after a long day. Open for nearly a decade, First was praised by global and national food media including The New York Times. Known as the “King of Casual,” Sammy’s eclectic late-night menu gave way to several beloved “Sammy D” classics, including Lollipop Wings, Mini-Burgers and Tiny Tinis.

After making his mark on the Las Vegas strip over the past several years, this New York native is keeping one foot in Sin City and the other back on the East Coast with his juiced up monster of a diner on the Jersey Shore. His restaurant concept Sammy D’s, a retro coffee shop serving up unique twists on East Coast classics, opened in December 2011 at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City in partnership with Stephen Hanson’s BR Guest Hospitality. Sammy has also opened 2 gastropubs called The Merrywell in Australia -- in both Melbourne and Perth -- with Chef Grant MacPherson. They hold the title of “Best Burger in Australia.” Chef Sammy D recently launched his company, Ingredient Group, a pioneer in food lifestyle companies.
